1. Our Services
Commonwealth Haul provides junk removal services to residential and commercial customers in Massachusetts. Services include furniture, appliance, and bulky item removal; estate cleanouts; property management turnovers; construction and demolition debris; same-day pickup (subject to availability and fees); and our Concierge Cleanout full-service tier.
2. Quotes and Pricing
Quotes are estimates until confirmed in writing by text or email. Once we send you a written quote that you accept, that price is locked — we will not increase it on arrival unless you add items not disclosed at the time of quoting.
Quoted prices include pickup, hauling, sweeping, and standard disposal. Massachusetts requires recycling fees for certain items (mattresses, electronics, refrigerants); these fees are itemized on your quote.
3. Same-Day Service and Arrival Windows
We offer a 4-hour arrival window on scheduled jobs and provide a 30-minute heads-up text before arrival. If we miss the 4-hour window for reasons within our control, we will deduct $50 from the final invoice. Same-day service is available for bookings placed before 10:00 AM, subject to a $50 priority fee and crew availability.
4. What We Cannot Haul
For safety, legal, and insurance reasons, we cannot transport:
- Liquid paint, solvents, stains, chemicals
- Motor oil, antifreeze, automotive fluids
- Gasoline, kerosene, flammable liquids
- Propane tanks and pressurized containers
- Lead-acid and lithium-ion batteries
- Fluorescent bulbs and mercury-containing items
- Asbestos and lead paint debris
- Medical waste, sharps, prescription medications
- Ammunition, firearms, explosives
- Any material with toxic, flammable, corrosive, or radioactive labels
If our crew identifies banned materials at your job site, we will refuse those items and provide information about proper disposal channels.
5. Customer Obligations
By booking with us, you agree to provide accurate descriptions and photos, disclose any hazardous materials, confirm that items being hauled belong to you or that you have the legal right to dispose of them, and provide reasonable access including clear pathways.
6. Damage Policy
We take reasonable care during all jobs. If our crew causes damage to your property: notify us within 48 hours by text, phone, or email with photos and a description. We will investigate the claim in good faith and, where we are at fault, repair or compensate up to actual damages or $1,000, whichever is less, unless covered separately under our insurance. Pre-existing damage, normal wear and tear, and damage from structural conditions are not covered.
7. Cancellation
Cancellations made more than 24 hours before the scheduled service are free. Cancellations within 24 hours may incur a $100 fee. Rescheduling at any time within reasonable notice is free.
8. Payment
Payment is due upon completion of service unless other arrangements are made in writing (such as net-30 terms for commercial accounts). We accept credit cards, ACH, business checks, and cash.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by Massachusetts law, Commonwealth Haul's total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the specific job giving rise to the claim. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, special, or punitive damages.
10. Photos and Customer Content
When you send us photos of items to be hauled, you grant Commonwealth Haul a limited license to use those photos to provide quotes and deliver services. We may use anonymized before/after photos (no identifying information) for marketing; if you do not wish your photos used in marketing, tell us in writing.
11. SMS Communications
By texting us, you consent to receive text messages from Commonwealth Haul related to your inquiry or service. Standard message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out of marketing messages.
12. Donations and Disposal
Where items are in suitable condition, we may donate them to local charities at our discretion. We do not guarantee specific donation outcomes or tax-deductible donation receipts unless explicitly arranged in advance under our Concierge service. Items not donated are recycled where possible and disposed of in compliance with Massachusetts regulations.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by Massachusetts law. Any dispute shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Middlesex County, Massachusetts.
14. Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
